My 16 month old was briefly admitted to hospital last week. In our haste to get to the hospital in the middle of the night, I forgot any form of cuddly toy or comfort object.
The nurse asked me his favourite colour, then reappeared with a lovely bear dressed in red.
My son beamed from ear to ear when Red Ted made his first appearance, and still plays with him at home. Thankfully, my son is ok now, but the appearance of Red Ted definitely made that early part of the admission to hospital much easier for him to cope with.

‘Hi There, I just wanted to send in an email and photo of my daughter.
We went to A&E at 4am this morning due to Sienna being really unwell with a high temperature and a very bad croup cough which left her struggling to breathe. When we arrived she was very distressed and couldn’t speak or cry properly due to the illness.
She was refusing to be examined and have her obs taken. Usually she is quite good with this.A nurse popped her head around the corner and introduced Sienna to this lovely little green bear. Instantly she stopped crying and was intrigued.
The lovely bear came out of his packet and took hold of the little plaster to put onto Sienna’s hand to take her obs. It was a success and she was so pleased with him.
We are home today and she has really taken to him and telling Nanny & Grandad that he made her better. He has been having lots of cuddles!I have never seen or heard of the TLC charity or the bears before and I really think this is such a wonderful thing.
It helped my daughter to relax in the hospital and I’m very grateful as is she.
