to Support Queens Jubilee and Sick Children
What could be better than a traditional style village fete, with good weather and lovely people.
The Teddy Bears Picnic was held at Godalming Masonic Centre, to support the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and raise funds for Teddies for Loving Care (TLC) Surrey, a charity which provides teddies for sick or injured children in hospital.
Entry and car parking were free, with picnic bags and soft drinks also provided to children free of charge.
Face painting, magic show, a restored Rapier Fire Engine from Mimbridge Fire Station & Museum, plus best dressed teddy competition, were just some of the attractions. A busy BBQ also offered hot food, with a licensed bar for mums, dads, and grandparents.
The Teddies for Loving Care (TLC) charity provides unique cuddly bears to Accident & Emergency departments for medical staff to give at their discretion to young children. The bears are used to calm children down, reward them for being brave or to demonstrate procedures. Often the bears distract children, so that nurses and doctors can get their jobs done quickly and efficiently.
An extra bonus is children get to take their new teddy bear friend home with them afterwards.

The work of TLC Surrey is funded exclusively through the generous donations of Surrey Freemasons, their families, and supporters of the programme.
TLC Surrey is operated 365 days a year by a dedicated team of volunteers, who make weekly deliveries of the bears to 10 different Surrey A&E hospitals.
Approximately 1,100 teddies are currently given to Children in Surrey hospital A&E departments each month.
Teddies for Loving Care is an extraordinarily simple, and delightfully perfect, idea to help give comfort to distressed or frightened children who find themselves in hospital.
